Will You Be Compliant with the Zero Waste Scotland Landfill Ban?

Driving Value Through Smarter Waste Management

Are you looking to save costs and improve compliance?

The Scottish landfill ban started at the end of 2025, requiring that food, garden waste, paper and cardboard does not go to landfill and instead needs to be handled differently. There is a temporary reprieve in place until 1st January 2028, but this is not an automatic reprieve and has to be applied for.

At One Stop Waste, we actively try to avoid landfill and instead promote an Energy from Waste strategy. This is better for your business and better for short and long-term sustainability, turning non-recyclable waste into usable energy.

Given our Energy from Waster strategy, we always work with our clients to help them minimise or even avoid landfill.

But if you currently have waste going to landfill, now is the time to be thinking of a new approach. Whether that is moving to an Energy from Waste strategy or a plan for how to minimise your use of landfill now, with a view to zero waste to landfill by 2028, we can help you.

Not putting in place a plan is likely to cause your business problems in the future. It could be higher disposal costs, environmental penalties and regulatory enforcement, reputational damage, an inability to meet expectations of clients or to bid for public sector and some private sector contracts, or failure to comply with external audits.

We can work with you now to implement a plan, get ahead of the legal requirements and ensure you comply.
